CELT, based in Co. Clare, is a registered charity which provides education, training and awareness raising in environmental issues, traditional skills, sustainable living and nature conservation. They run a number of courses, workshops and events throughout they year, including the popular ‘Weekend in the hills.’
They also have a tree nursery, where you can buy native Irish trees, including fruit trees. They have a keen interest in agroforestry. Agroforestry is a land use system that allows for the concurrent production of trees and agricultural crops from the same piece of land. It has huge potential for job creation, the provision of firewood and food, carbon sequestration / reduction and biodiversity enhancement.
